Exfoliate
One of the best eye makeup tricks that I can share with you, and it's actually a general makeup trick, is to exfoliate your face before applying any makeup. Exfoliation is the process of cleansing away dead skin cells to reveal a younger and more dew skin below. Exfoliating products are available in a wide range of choices, from the most basic drug store brands, like St Ives, to the most expensive department store designer brands. Either of which you choose, a good exfoliant will make your face radiant and THAT makes all your makeup look so much more magnificent, truly, it makes a huge difference.
Preparing The Eyes
One of the best eye makeup tricks is to apply a thin layer of MAC primer on the lids. You can also use a foundation if the primer is not available. This will make the lid smoother and give you a good foundation that will make other eye makeup apply and look better. Also, the primer and foundation will provide a smooth and slick foundation on which to add other products such as eye shadows. |

Choose The Right Color For Your Eyes
The colors of eye makeup can depend on both the hair and the eye color, contrary to some other opinions. Blonde hair will look good with taupes, shades of brown, cream and light colors, and darker hair will look good with dark brown, gray and mocha. Gray or ash-colored hair looks good with purple, blue and darker grays. For redheads, coppers, red tones, peaches and pinks go quite well, though the brown shades work great as well. As far as eye color goes, the shadow and liner that looks great is that which is the opposite of the eye color itself. Also, brown shades go great with brown and green eyes, and the smokey eye look, which is based on grays; black and brown shades will go with all eye colors.

Create a Wider Eyes with Liner
To make narrow eyes appear wider, apply the eyeliner ¼ of the way out from the inner corners with the beginning line being very thin and then growing slightly wider toward the edge.Make Wide Eyes Closer With Liner
To make extremely wide-set eyes appear closer, use this makeup trick. Apply a slight amount of the darkest shade of shadow just near the inner corners of each lid and begin your eyeliner right at the inner edges of your lash line.Give More Depth To Big Eyes With Liner
Add eyeliner to the inside of the lower lid. Add liner all around the eye and blend well.- Use a good quality eyeliner, such as the MAC eyeliners, the better the eyeliner the more smooth and easy the application, the longer it lasts and the better it looks.
More Simple Eyeliner Eye Makeup Tricks
- Once again, blend, blend and blend again! The more blended the line of the liner, the better it looks, jagged, overly defined lines don't look too good.
- Add a layer of your dark shadow over the liner, and blend, this really provides for a natural, and still dramatic look.
- Use eyeliner appropriately, and don't over do it, applying too thick or a glaring eyeliner line will create the clown effect. Also, consider where you are going, super dark and dramatic liner might look great at the dance club on Saturday night but not at the office on Monday morning.
- To soften black eyeliner lines add a little eyeshadow over it and blend a little, this makeup trick gets rid of stark black lines and creates more subtle drama.
- Placing eyeliner on the inside of the lower lid really makes the eyes pop, provides a more deep-set look for very big eyes, but can actually make small eyes look smaller. To offset this effect use eyeliner, like black or dark brown on the inside of the lower lid, gently tug down on your lower lid and trace the inner rim, AND then, apply a line on the outside of the lower lid and then blend out with a nice layer of eyeshadow, like smoky eyes, these makeup tricks will really make small eyes pop!
Make sure your eyebrows are shaped properly, and contoured, this makeup up trick makes a big difference in how good the rest of the makeup looks.
Eyeshadow Make Up Tricks
Highlighter -
The shade of the highlighter is usually one or two shades lighter than your natural skin tone. This color will be the lightest shade of shadow that is used on the eyes, it is applied directly below the eyebrow right above the crease of your eyelid. Its purpose is to bring attention to your eyes, by putting an emphasis on the arch of the eyebrows. You can also place the highlighter on the inner corner/tear duct of your eye, this makeup trick provides the illusion of larger eyes.
Mid-Tone or Lid-Shade -
This color is your mid-tone, that is darker than the highlighter, apply this one starting at the root of your eyelashes, where the ball of your eye protrudes and up to the crease. This eyeshadow makeup trick provides more shape to the eye defining and enhancing the body of the eyes.
Crease Color -
Contouring colors are always the darkest tone of shadow and is applied to the crease of the lid that is right above the lid and under the brow bone. Your crease is what frames the lid and will make your lid more prominent. The image on the right (credit: kuuipo1207) illustrates the above process.
If you have small eyes do not put mascara on the lower lashes, only use mascara on the top lashes
A very thin line of white shimmery shadow placed on both the top lash line, and under the lower lash line can make your eyes look larger and really pop.
Make eyes sparkle -
Add a very very very thin line of shimmery eyeshadow along your lash line, both top and bottom, preferably with an eyeliner brush that is very thin, This makeup trick really makes the eyes sparkle!
